Overview of operations

Introduction

In this screen, you can view an overview of existing operations. In addition, you can create operations or modify the details of existing operations in this screen.

Operations are breakdowns of productions of finished goods into smaller processes. It offers better control over each operation. When creating operations, you must specify either a machine or labor hour unless you are creating an operation to be used for outsourcing purposes.

Keep in mind: This screen can only be accessed if the Operations check box is selected at System ➔ General ➔ Settings, under Manufacturing settings.

What version are you using?

The information in this document is based on product update 406 and higher. If you have versions lower than this, certain features explained here will not be applicable.

How do I create an operation?

  1. From the Manufacturing / Setup / Operations screen, click New.
  2. At the Operations screen, fill in the code for the operation in the Operation field.
  3. Fill in the description of the operation in the Operation field.
  4. Fill in other required information under the Operations tab.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Under the Capacity/Scheduling tab, define the scheduled resources and link the operation to one shift or more, if required.
  7. Click Save.

Keep in mind: All fields with the "!" icon are mandatory. Some fields are enabled only after the entry is saved.

How do I modify the details an operation?

  1. From the Manufacturing / Setup / Operations screen, select an operation, and then click Open.
  2. At the Operations screen, make the necessary changes, and then click Save.

How do I copy an operation?

  1. From the Manufacturing / Setup / Operations screen, select an operation, and then click Copy.
  2. At the Copy: Operation screen, fill in the code of the new operation in the New field.
  3. Fill in the description of the new operation in the Description field.
  4. Click OK.
  5. At the Operations screen, fill in or modify the information, if required.
  6. Click Save.

How do I delete an operation?

  1. From the Manufacturing / Setup / Operations screen, select an operation.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

Keep in mind: The default operation cannot be deleted.
